9/20/06: Requesting Affiliate Accounts for Non-UMD Members
Affiliate IDs are required to enroll non-UMD individuals into ELMS courses (e.g., students in outreach programs, consortium participants, invited guests, etc.).
Once you have acquired the person’s Affiliate ID, send it to elms@umd.edu and indicate to which ELMS course space you would like the person added and the role, such as TA, student, Course Developer (for more information on roles see Adding Additional Users to Your Course).
To learn more about Affiliate sponsorship, see http://www.oit.umd.edu/units/dataadmin/Affiliates/

9/7/06: Safari and IE Macintosh Compatibility Problems
We have documented problems with a lack of support of Blackboard’s Visual Text Editor in Safari and the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer. The Visual Text Box Editor is a feature that has three collapsible rows of buttons and a text entry box in which text, images and other objects can be entered. This feature is found in the Discussion Board space, among other features available to Instructors or Students. The impact of this support problem is that students and instructors should not attempt to work in the Discussion Board (or Chat area) using Safari or IE on a Macintosh.
The workable option for Macintosh users is Firefox. However, note that Fireflox does not permit pasting text from Microsoft Office files on the Macintosh implementation. To accomplish this task, paste the text into a basic text editor, such as TextEdit or Notepad and then paste the text into the Visual Text Box Editor.

9/1/06: Bb Quiz Issue: Essay Questions
Issue: Save Option for Essay and Short Answer Test Questions
Exams allowing Multiple Attempts present the user with an option to Save answers. Upon clicking save, the answers for these types of questions are not being saved. Clicking Submit or setting the exam for only a single attempt are valid workarounds for this issue.
