How will I get my existing WebCT course(s) on to ELMS?
This is a two step process:
The first step of this process requires that Blackboard will copy the files contained in the MyFiles folder of your WebCT courses over to the new system using a program provided by BlackBoard. (Note: If you prefer to start from scratch on ELMS or do not want to use the new Learning Management System, see ‘What if I do not want to use ELMS?‘)
The second step is to review, modify and prepare your course for delivery. Not all tools and features in the WebCT system are exactly the same or exist in ELMS. You will need to review the course and make the desired changes in order to get your course ready for the next time you wish to offer it.
This is the time to think about how you use the learning management system and online resources for your course. In some cases, it may be a matter of re-linking a few files. In others, it may require additional work to recreate discussion forums, gradebook columns, etc. This also provides an opportunity to think about different or better ways to accomplish your teaching objectives using online resources. Academic Support’s staff of instructional designers will be available to assist University instructors who want to re-examine their approach to teaching using online tools and resources.
For more information on when this will happen, see ‘When will my WebCT course(s) be moved to ELMS?‘
